A genuine treasure is to be found with this vintage Gobelin brooch. Hand crafted in 18 karat gold in a pleated-fan pattern, the smooth center contains four round brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of .12 carat. The pleated fan pattern is most frequently found in older Gobelin designs, and the double pin arrangement leads us to believe this brooch may have been intended to double as a fur clip, which would have been popular in the 1930's and 1940's. The brooch measures 1-1/2" long and 1-1/4" wide. Marked Gubelin 750 with maker's trademark.
The Gobelin Company, a well known luxury watch and jewelry company, began as a watch company in Switzerland in 1854. Today, Gobelin is run by the 6th generation of family members.
